Newsletter #30

April 26thEdition of
The K/1 Class News

Hello sunshine! Everyone has enjoyed the beautiful weather this week. Please remember to send your child to school with sunscreen on and a hat if you feel they need it. We are loving the sun and being outdoors.

This week on Monday we practiced printing and had library as usual. We also finished making flower puppets and celebrated Earth Day by doing school-wide centres activities. What a beautiful day and way to celebrate our Earth.

Tuesday we worked in our journals, had baby Max visit in Roots of Empathy and learned more about word sounds in our Oral Language Groups. In the afternoon Ms. Klare helped the class make seed balls and we played in the forest.

On Wednesday the kids practiced different ways to make 10 and 20 and then were thrilled to make maps that led to a hidden treasure! Later we learned about, and hunted for, local edible plants and made tea from our harvest. We had an outdoor tea party at the end of the day and everyone enjoyed trying the delicious concoction.

Thursday was another beautiful day and we practiced writing sight words, had journals and Music. Later we had our second Nature Art lesson and enjoyed playing in the sunny forest.

As the end of the year approaches, there will be many events and changes to the regular schedule. Please be sure to check the blog and the school calendar to ensure you are aware of upcoming fieldtrips or happenings. It's a very busy, yet fun time of year.

May 1 Spring Showcase 1pm.
May 3 SIMS act comes to Fulford
May 11 PAC Garage Sale and Craft Market
May 21 No School
May 24 Class and school photos
